Zoologist's Civet pays homage to the age-old ingredient civet, as well as chypre perfumes of bygone days – perfumes that refused to be intimidated by raw, alluring, animalistic musks. Civet is a moody and complex brew entwined in mystery. It opens with a spicy floral accord, threaded through with dark coffee tones. Slowly it prowls forward, unraveling base notes of leather, moss and vanilla that combine with distinctive civet musk to create a bewildering, sophisticated scent with the promise of a sultry nighttime rendezvous. Created by perfumer Shelley Waddington.
NOTES: Bergamot, black pepper, lemon, orange, spices, tarragon, carnation, frangipani, heliotrope, hyacinth, linden blossom, tuberose, ylang-ylang, balsams, civet*, coffee, incense, labdanum, musks*, oakmoss, resins, Russian leather*, vanilla, vetiver, woods
*Synthetic notes. Civet Eau de Parfum does not use animal products.

The synthetic civet is completely overshadowed by a huge plethora floral, woody, and some gourmand notes. The notes I can detect are bergamot, pepper, citrus, carnation, heliotrope, hyacinth, tuberose (prominent), ylang-ylang, woody notes, incense, labdanum, leather, vanilla, and vetiver. This is a dense and inviting perfume that leans female with moderate to strong sillage and good longevity.

Forget everything you thought this would smell like. It doesn't. But what about everything you love to smell? This has it. To me, it is not animalic, it is caressing, it is smooth, it is skillfully blended. The coffee undulates through it. You can wear this to a ball, and to take the trash to the curb. I've been wearing my sample for three days, and have ordered my first FB. Yes it IS that good. Brava, Shelley Waddington and Bravo Victor Wong.
