Fume is my first fragrance along the line of a smokey campfire, with a piney, mossy smell, and I have enjoyed it a lot so far. Not the typical mass-appealing smell, but trained noses will most likely appreciate it. Would love to try more Hendley fragrances.

I collect fragrances and one of my favorite houses is Slumberhouse, with Norne being one of my favorites fragrances. I got Fume since many reviews mentioned similarity to Norne. So I will say at the very start, somewhat similar but not the same, not even close. Fume does share the fir resin note, but it is a fragrance of its own.
General impression I get from Fume is somewhat acrid smoky wood at the beginning that becomes a bit sweater as time goes by (but not sweat fragrance by any means). Recognizable notes in order of presence are assorted conifer resins, smoke, a bit of tea, slightly earthy vetiver, a bit of nagarmotha, and tiny bits of galbanum and oakmoss.
If you like smokey conifer resins you must have this one.

Campfire woodsmoke and sweet mesquite bbq smoke. Strong and tenacious (had a hard time washing this off). It's not what I want to smell like, but there you have it.

Definitely masculine: smoky campfires and every aspect of forest from soil to leaf. It is going to polarise people because it is not subtle, sure, but I agree with Frazier's review.
My husband loves this scent and has actually worn it to the office!! And that, folks, is why I married him.

This one was disappointment, based on posted notes was hoping for natural strong fir, pine, woody fragrance, instead got lots of BBQ smoke. If it was a smoke of a wood fire it would be great, but BBQ, meat? To much of it to wait for relief and emergence of other notes.

....the aura of smoke clings to the blackened bark of the pine trees after yesterday's fire. There are smoldering stumps and charred logs lying on the scorched earth. Your fingers are sticky with tree resins and the smell of fire still permeates your clothes.
But the forest floor is already carpeted in moss and tall, green grass. There are fir and pine saplings beginning to punch through the ash, the fresh scent of promise and rebirth is in the breeze.
And all of this in just the opening notes of this decidedly masculine fragrance. It's not a very dynamic fragrance--it will smell the same after 5 or 6 hours of wear as it did 5 minutes after application--and it's not really a cologne for formal occasions, but it still has a lot of class. This fragrance is well crafted and at $65 it seems like a bargain to me.
While it's not exactly my style in colognes I can certainly appreciate what Hendley has done here. I would recommend that you try a tester of Fume if you're looking for something that's masculine, uncomplicated yet refined, I don't think you'll be disappointed.
