Inspired by visits to the Giardini Botanici Hanbury in Ventimiglia Imperia, Italy, a city located on the Northern Sea of Italy. Lady Dorothy Hanbury, entertained many notables of her day including Winston Churchill who loved to come every year in spring when the flowers were in full bloom.
The Calycanthus flowers used in Hanbury (tiny white flowers which bloom in winter) are so unique that they define the bouquet of Maria Candida Gentile’s most feminine fragrance in the Classic collection. The bitter orange is sourced from a small organic producer on the Island of Calabria in Italy.
Notes: Sicilian Lime, Bitter Orange, Sweet Orange, Calycanthus, Honey, Acacia, White Musk, Benzoin

I think this is the most beautiful scent I have ever smelled. If I could rate it higher I would. If luxury had a smell, this would be it! Just absolutely gorgeous! Great sillage and longevity. Although it's quite pricey (I bought a sample), I think it just may be worth it until I remember prices are listed in a foreign currency, so it's actually quite a bit more expensive.Still...I just may HAVE to save up and splurge.❤

Hanbury smells like orange blossoms dripping with summer heat and honeyed sweetness. The musk smells darker than white musk usually does on me. The overall effect is like skin heated by a hot summer night, in a garden of orange blossoms and honeysuckles.

This is a very specific scent memory for me. Late August on the lawn, pollen heavy wild flowers all around, day dreaming in the hazy sunshine. Gorgeous and heady but never overbearing. Perfect.

I find this a lovely scent, extremely easy to wear, and easy to like, if not adore. It's a go-to scent, one I expect to reach for without thinking too much, and a no-brainer for business meetings, theatre, dentist (he likes it!), and other venues or situations when a perfume with a strong presence might be inappropriate or unfortunate.
I love the combination of orange scents (and the Sicilian lime), and the calycanthus, which I've never seen or smelled elsewhere, seems to have a soft jasminey, orange blossomy white flower appeal. There is a light green note that is subtle and fresh, and just enough "bottom" to last and leave a soft, pretty skin scent for hours.
I gave Hanbury a 4, as I have only a handful of 5s, but it might end up as a 5 after I've lived with it a bit. I ordered a full bottle--very unusual for me--after rapidly using up four samples! I order few FBs these days, having hundreds of samples, so that is saying a lot! It is not inexpensive, but I am glad I made this purchase.
