The Rhubarb & Custard fragrance we all dreamed of. It's named 1:29, not after a train timetable, but because it's 1 part Rhubarb & Citrus Cologne to 29 parts Vanilla Custard; this turned out to be the ideal combination of the two separate fragrances tested at the special 4160Tuesdays/Mrs Gloss & The Goss afternoon workshop. The ideal blend of tart with sweet, smooth with sharp, bright with soothing, as chosen by eight discerning Glossers as the perfect balance between the two contrasting themes. A pudding in a perfume.

To me, this is an upscale vanilla with a hint of rhubarb that lasts and lasts. Reminds me of my childhood fav vanilla perfumes, but better, for grownups. I wear this one and Captured by Candlelight quite regularly. This is my second fav of all my collection. I would say this (and Captured by Candlelight!) is a safe blind buy.

Sorry to be contrary to all the other glowing reviews, but oh noooo!!
I do NOT enjoy the opening of this! So green and sour. It becomes a little bit better at the end, but overall...no.
Perhaps the Creamy Vanilla Custard would have been more up my alley. But since I actually enjoy the smell of rhubarb, and the reviews were so glowing, I thought I would give this a try.
4160 Tuesdays is really hit or miss for me. I loved Mrs Gloss Lemon Sherbet and Mrs Gloss Made Me Do It, but really disliked Sunshine & Pancakes and this. Captured by Candlelight was ok, more yay than nay. Hopefully that gives you a frame of reference for my tastes in the line!

Lemon sour and jammy sweet pink rhubarb sandwiched between creamy pale yellow custard and a fine crumb, grainy crust. The initial green citrus opening transitions quickly to juicy sweet-sour on my skin. Hay and tobacco keeps the rhubarb and biscuit core earthy and lands the scent in the gourmand desserts but not full-on sugar bomb category. As far as longevity goes, I’ve been testing through summer 75-100+ F and my nose detects ~3-4 hours before it becomes a skin scent up to ~6-8 hours. I assume the performance will be different in cooler weather but imho this one is very palatable and acceptable to “overspray” as needed or desired... Overall I find Rhubarb & Custard is soft and quietly refreshing throughout the day. An addictive frag and to be my second full bottle after Hammersmith Tea.

Rhubarb is having a moment right now but too many of the trendy brands are featuring the sharpness without the tang. 4160 gets its right here with a creamy set of notes to complement. This brand lasts and lasts and if you like the notes I wouldn’t hesitate to blind buy.

This is heavenly! Citrus-y but sweet (not sickly sweet!!) and i think this is perfect for all year round use if you have a sweet tooth for perfumes like me!

Essentially, Rhubarb and Custard is basically just a Vanilla Crumble with a dash of citrus/rhubarb.
However, with Rhubarb and Custard, upon opening notes, I can definitely smell a lot more of a really sharp baked rhubarb scent with a little bit of dessert in the background, more of a honey and oatmeal.
After the dry down, the rhubarb dries down but the heavy creamy brown sugar and oatmeal bread and butter pudding starts to peak through a little more. Bergamot comes forward a little more like a touch of sweet Earl Grey tea and just rounds out that otherwise sharp sweetness of the Vanilla Absolute, which I would say was the downside of Creamy Vanilla Crumble.
This scent reminds me of a raspberry panacotta, and it has a little more throw because of the tartness in the perfume.
This lasts around 5-6 hours on my skin, and 6-7 on fabric. I really love this scent, and I've ordered a 30mL already!
Absolutely love this, and can't wait to get my full size version.
Highly reccomend this for foodies and gourmand lovers.
