Black Vines

I like sweet and spicy and this one really hits the mark. You have to enjoy anise, but there's more going on than just that. I think it is primarily the cinnamon and fig, but after I saw ivy in the notes that also made sense. Performance is above average but it's not overwhelming at all. Great dry down. I think I have a new favorite for the time being...

My daughter says that this smells “old man”. Being the inverse of her age, I suppose that can certainly be a valid interpretation, but there is quite a bit more to it. It could even be thought of as a novelty scent. It is bold. It makes a statement. Chick magnet? Maybe not, unless you are Willy Wonka. Great for men or women who are bold themselves. If you cannot smell this, you may have Covid! Not my signature scent, but more one I’d spritz on before bedtime, as I presume Pliny the Elder would have done, on one of his sleepless nights, had he have been lucky enough to have a bottle of Black Vines around!...... although I find this to be an excellent “lazy day” scent. Also great for holiday parties, especially if you are playing Santa Claus. To me, this is a licorice/anise smell, pure and simple…and a very potent one at that! This anise scent can evoke memories of grandpa pulling a magical candy out of his sleeve for a grandchild, but mostly, whatever feeling it may evoke is one of comfort. I am not really one for gourmand fragrances, but this is delicious and addictive. Like the few samples I’ve tried from the house of Kerosene, this is superb. I’ve stopped trying to figure out which is the best Kerosene fragrance, I think I’ll just buy them all! I have not yet tested the pH of this substance yet, but I’d say it is a few points either direction of 7. Remember to close eyes, and not to inhale any molecules when spraying. This stuff will burn! Depending on how open your pores are, you likely will notice some stinging. None of this is a deal breaker, for out of pain comes pleasure!

I received Black Vines in a Kerosene sampler pack and was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this fragrance. As someone who despises licorice, I was wary of a scent formulated around that note. On initial spray it's a hot blast of black licorice and Red Hot candies. About an hour later, it dies down to a cinnamon candle. The enjoyment is when the scent settles into a beautiful spiced cream with a light touch of anise. I can see this being wonderful when worn to a holiday party. It's comforting, cheerful and brings back memories of Christmas past.

Love this! Very interesting and beautiful scent.If you are expecting a sweet licorice you will be surprised to find instead a full bodied earthy licorice tempered with spicy notes that make this a true stunner. The Ivy note somehow wraps around the anise and makes it earthy and the cinnamon,incense and vanilla add a warmth that you will rarely find in a perfume today This is a perfect cold weather scent..but actually is perfect for any time you want to smell just truly fabulous! I have been collecting perfumes for years and this line is quickly making many of my scents obsolete as I don't want to wear anything but one of these gorgeous creations!This perfumer is an artist and he paints absolutely gorgeous pictures with his creations

I would describe the scents I have sampled from this line so far as magical. This one seems to combine all the best and darkest elements of ivy, licorice with a bit of cinnamon. This perfume is for those who want to smell fabulous without any of the traditional ploys of the perfumer! I am not sure how he does it but this perfumer has ventured into the realm of magic with all of his incredible scents.This is strong, while being comfortingly soft and spicy without being overwhelming. If you want to make a statement but to make it quietly and with impact this perfume would be the absolute perfect choice. All of the notes are identifiable but combine to make a scent you have never experienced before and will love forever!
