Larrea

To me this is quite unusual leathery scent, no similarities to anything else I came across. Initially I get a sort of medicinal scent, something vaguely resembling disinfecting products and bleach, not pleasant, but luckily this impression disappears very quickly and it becomes clear what this fragrance is about. There is definitely some sort of leather, not pronounced, the fragrance is not centered on it, accompanied by some vetiver, and something herbaceous, dry, resembling a sort of mixture of sage, very dry orris, earth. This must be the creosote, which I am not familiar with, and petrichor, which I am well acquainted with. I have a few fragrances with petrichor and I love this earthy smell. So the fragrance transforms quickly from something quite unpleasant at the very beginning to a full bottle worthy one.

I don't know about Larrea, Streets of Laredo might be a more apt name for this interesting product which recalls cordite or fireworks. I once attempted a similar perfume which I called Gunsmoke, but this is closer to the effect I was trying for. I love the fantasy ingredients - extract of canyons etc, more intriguing than the usual uninformative lists. Best of the bunch by a long shot.

This is a well blended scent, it carries the breathlessness of the oncoming storm. For me, it's missing that tiny, faint green note which promises growth to come. If you are a leather fan, this one delivers a beauty. Well worth your perfume dollar.
